But comparatively books on Tamil Cinema (which is in it's golden age now) is lesser. Keeping this in mind Now G. Dhananjayan, Chief -- South Film Business of UTV Motion Pictures along with Galatta Media presents you 'The Best of Tamil Cinema: 1931 to 2010' , a 650 plus pages (designed and published by Galatta Media) book that covers details of blockbusters of Tamil Cinema from 1931 to 2010, from the first Tamil talkie film Kalidas (1931) to Nandhalala (2010). It narrates the journey and growth of the industry through a period of eight decades. Volume I presents the best films released between 1931 and 1976, while Volume II deals with the period between 1977 and 2010. To add more, the book launch (today) is turning out to be a grand affair. The guest of honours for the event include actors Kamal Haasan, Sivakumar, Parthiban, Sarathkumar, directors Mahendra, Balu Mahendra, K. Bhagyaraj, S.M. And then perfectionist Sivakumar gave an interesting lecture about the history of Tamil cinema with anecdotes. >>> King of screenplay, Bhagyaraj spoke about the trivias and other interesting details from the book. The director-actor was very much impressed with the research and information on Tamil Cinema. >>> New age director Selvaraghavan, who is known for his trend setting films, called the function 'The celebration of Tamil Cinema'. >>> Veteran actor Sarathkumar praised the Galatta Media team for the marvelous effort.
